Brisbane Porcelain Dental Veneers

What can porcelain veneers do?

How strong are porcelain veneers?
Our porcelain veneers are strong and durable, and comparable to natural tooth enamel. They can last for 10 years when you take good care of your veneers, follow good oral hygiene and keep up with your regular dental visits.
Are there other types of veneers?
We also offer composite veneers made from composite resin. These are a cheaper option than porcelain veneers, but they don't usually last as long, are more easily damaged and don't have the same natural appearance.
How are porcelain veneers fitted?
Fitting porcelain veneers usually involves 2 appointments at our dental clinic, though more may be needed in more complex cases. In total there are 4 stages:
Consultation and check-up
During your consultation, we'll tell you everything you need to know about veneers and answer any questions you have. We'll then arrange an appointment to examine your teeth and gums and make sure they're healthy, or if any other treatments are needed.
Preparing your teeth
Before veneers can be fitted, we need to remove a small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. We'll also etch their surface to make it easier for the veneers to bond. We can give you a local anaesthetic so you won't feel any pain.
Taking impressions
Next, we'll take impressions (moulds) of your teeth that will be used to make your veneers. These impressions will be sent to a dental laboratory where your custom veneers will be made. We'll provide you with temporary veneers until your next appointment.
Final fitting
We'll call you back when your veneers are finished, usually in around 1 week. We'll check that they feel comfortable and that you're satisfied with their appearance, make any final adjustments and bond them to your teeth.

What are the risks of Porcelain Veneers?
Your teeth may feel more sensitive after they've been prepared for veneers. This can last for up to several weeks. You should try to avoid especially hot or cold food and drink during this time. You should also avoid hard, crunchy or chewy foods while your temporary veneers are in place.
